Nashville Tree Foundation works to preserve and enhance Nashville's urban forest by educating the public, planting trees in urban areas, identifying the oldest and largest trees in Davidson County, and designating arboretums.

Victor Johnson Award-winner Joe Thompson hands out acorns from the bur oak at Belle Meade Country Club, a Big Old Tree Contest winner in 1988. He has picked up acorns for years to give away—he and his wife Martha picked up 120 acorns that he brought to the planting.
